Fifty-seventh Pope: Agapetus I - 4 comments

Agapetus is a lucky pope; he's revered as a saint by both the Catholic and the Eastern churches. And as far as these portraits indicate, he's the first pope to wear a really big ring!

Good question! Agapetus was pope from 535 to 536; a pretty short run. Of course, I think the record is 6 days, so he's not in /last/ place.

Ah, still pretty early! So we're probably around 200 or so popes to go?

(That would be a good Wits & Wagers question, how many popes there have been!)

Great guess, Chad. That's why you rock so hard at Wits & Wagers.

207 popes to go!
